Mrs. Spatzier - Second Grade
Welcome Second Grade Students and Parents
to Eastampton Community School
In Language Arts, Second Grade students will develop strategies to become successful readers and writers. Reading fiction and non-fiction selections, we will make predictions, draw conclusions, determine main ideas, and identify word meanings in context. Writing for a variety of audiences, we will practice writing narratives, as well expository and persuasive pieces. Figurative language and dialogue will be included in the student generated writing to make the writing more interesting.
In Math, second grade students will further develop skills for tackling numerical problems and word problems. Your child will learn strategies to successfully respond to different math situations.
HOMEWORK is assigned every day except the last school day of the week. Assignments will be written in the green homework notebook, and worksheets will be placed in the green folder. Most days spelling/phonics and math will be assigned.
Please encourage your child to read every night
for at least 10 minutes.
Kindly practice math facts (0-20) weekly. :)
Reading Wonders skills can be practiced by clicking on the book above. Students know their passwords.
